This example shows an unmodified plant on natural gas producing 295.7 MMBTU/Hr with an efficiency of 70.6%. Modifying the plant with a heat recovery system, it still produces 296.2 MMBTU/Hr - but at an efficiency of 81.4%!
If 1/3 of the savings are normalized for the year, the savings amount to:
- Save 360 therms/hour of natural gas
- $3,150,000 at fuel costs of $1.00 per therm
- A reduction of 20,200 tons/year CO2
